With a great crowd on hand at Maimonides Park and with Mets Great Bartolo Colon on hand to interact with fans the Brooklyn Cyclones (40-41) defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers (39-40) by a final of 6-3 in Minor League Baseball action.
As Colon, also known as ‘Big Sexy’ threw out one of the ceremonial first pitches, the Cyclones went on to impress in what was a fun day in Coney Island.

Blade Tidwell, getting the start in Game One, continues to pitch well for the team. The Righty now holding a 6-3 record went 5.2 innings and striking out six batters.
Even though Greensboro got on the scoreboard first in the Top of the Fourth Inning thanks to the sacrifice fly RBI by Shawn Ross, after that though Brooklyn came roaring back in a big way.
Getting the Cyclones started in the frame was Chase Estep, as he ripped a double to right fielder to tie up the night. Shortly after that Mateo Gil lifted a ball over the left center field wall for a home run, and the 3-1 lead.
In the Top of the Fifth Inning the Grasshoppers showed a ton of spark on their side offensively, as a homer by Francisco Acuna made the score 3-2.
Alex Ramirez and William Lugo helped the team respond in the Bottom of the frame with two big moments. First Ramirez placed a ball perfectly into left field for an RBI single, then a few batters later Lugo ripped a double to center field, getting the Cyclones to a 5-2 lead.
Ramirez continued his fine night at the dish with a sacrifice fly RBI in the Bottom of the 7th to increase the score to 6-2. The last bit of offense came from the Grasshoppers Acuna, as he hit an RBI double in the Top of the Ninth Inning.
Thankfully the bullpen was able to hold off the Grasshoppers offense from there, and the Cyclones found themselves on the side of a big 6-3 victory.
These two teams are going to meet two more times in Coney Island, prior to the Cyclones going on the road to go up against Hudson Valley.
Game Two between the Cyclones and Grasshoppers is scheduled to take place at 6:00 p.m. Pitching for the Cyclones is going to be Jordany Ventura.
Ventura is currently ranked as the Mets #19 prospect in Minor League Baseball features a great changeup, and his delivery has the franchise hoping that he can continue to throw strikes. Jordany is going to go up against Grasshoppers starter J.P. Massey (1-1, 4.05 ERA).
