Brooklyn Cyclones face tough 1-0 loss to Hudson Valley

As the Brooklyn Cyclones (27-35) returned to Coney Island to take on the Hudson Valley Renegades (37-26) the team had hoped to slow down the momentum of the Yankees Minor League affiliate as they were one game away from clinching a playoff position.

After seeing a sensational pitcher’s duel, it was the Renegades being able to get the lone run in the game and clinching first place in the North Division for the first half of the 2023 season.

The last time that Hudson Valley was in the playoffs was during the 2019 season, and this is a bit of a historic one for the Renegades as they are achieving this feat for the first time as a member of the New York Yankees Family.

Getting the start in the game for the Cyclones Joander Suárez, meanwhile Tyrone Yulie impressing many who were at Maimonides Park.

Suárez, mixed up his pitches with great ease, allowing one run only one run, on just two hits, while tying a season-high strikeouts with eight.

As for Yulie, for those who are fans of the Yankees he is going to be one to watch for, as he did not allow a base hit through seven innings of work. The Renegades only featured two pitchers in the game as Yulie and Carlos Gómez Held the Cyclones to only one run.

The Cyclones had themselves some opportunities in the night, as there were several hard-hit balls, and stellar defensive play. It was only in the Bottom of the 9th that the Mets Minor League Affiliate were able to get a runner on base, thanks to C Kevin Parada.

It was a nail-biting play as Parada in the frame, hit a ball down the third base line, and thanks to his hustle was safe at first keeping the team alive.

With their being a sliver of hope in Coney Island and with the Cyclones fans cheering for their team, any chance of a comeback was closed out by Gómez who closed out the ninth inning in style in starting the celebration of the First Half Crown with his team.

As for the Renegades, helping to lead the way in the team’s victory is 3B Eduardo Torrealba.

Game two between the Cyclones and Hudson Valley continues on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. It is going to be Brooklyn starter Jeffrey Colón (1-3, 5.40) on the mound against Joel Valdez (1-4, 6.14 ERA)
