Gotham FC and Lynn Williams a perfect pair as forward signs three-year Contract

When it comes time for building a team and building the team’s reputation and brand one of the essential aspects to that is finding the right players.

Who are those that are willing to play within the team’s system and see success and be able to be, especially in a place like New York City shine under their bright lights and under their media scrutiny and the eyes of their many sports fans.

One perfect pairing has been that of Gotham FC and Lynn Williams, it was on January 12, 2023, when New Jersey/New York made the call to Williams to join the franchise.

Williams having played with the Kansas City Current and suffering a season -ending hamstring injury had made a comeback and then some.

Brining an already impressive resume with her to the New Jersey/New York area that included being a part of the U.S. Women’s National Team forward, Olympic medalist, three-time National Women’s Soccer League champion, and former league MVP, Lynn continued to show why she is one to watch for during the 2023 NWSL Season.

Whenever Lynn takes the field immediately her presence is felt, especially on the offensive side of the field, as the forward creates opportunities on the net, and thus far all of that has paid off big time.

Since being a part of the Gotham FC roster Williams has been able to score six goals in 12 regular season games, including a team-leading four game winners, and both of the team’s goals in the NWSL Challenge Cup so far. She has been honored among the NWSL’s Best XI in back-to-back months, and she was named Budweiser NWSL Player of the Week on three separate occasions.

It is thanks to these incredible numbers and her amazing overall personality and comradery with her teammates that Lynn was announced and in the most perfect of backdrops on top of the Empire State Building that she has signed a new three-year contract to remain with the club through 2025.

That means that Williams is going to be a huge part of Gotham FC’s success for this year, and many hears to come. Thus far the squad is having one of their better years as they sit in sixth place in the NWSL standings with a 5-4-3 overall record.

Up next for the squad is a return to Red Bull Arena on June 25 against the Chicago Red Stars. The time of the match is set for 5:30 p.m.
