Delle Donne has Milestone Day as Mystics defeat Sky, 77-69

With an electric Entertainment and Sports Arena rocking the house the Washington Mystics were able to pick up their second victory in three days, the latest victory for the team was a 77-69 victory over the Chicago Sky.

Having almost the full complement of players on the floor, as Brittney Sykes returned with rec specs after what was a scary moment against Phoenix and also fans seeing the return of Natasha Cloud the team as a whole had themselves a stellar performance.

In terms of individual performances, forward/guard Elena Delle Donne continues to put up some impressive numbers with the Mystics. Delle Donne finished the game with 20 points along with six rebounds, two assist and two steals shooting 9-9 from the free throw line.

Delle Donne had herself a milestone moment by recording her 4,500th career point, she now is the 30th player in WNBA history to amass such numbers.

Other impressive performances came from Sykes, as she didn’t miss a beat in having 16 points on 6-8 from the field and 1-1 from three along with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Sykes and her defensive play has her ranked in first place in the W with her 2.2 steals per game, in addition she also ranks first in the league in total steals with 24.

In her first game back after having an ankle injury Cloud once again showed off her incredible passing ability, leading the team with five assists. This is the 10th game this season with 5+ assist, and that is good for second most in the WNBA behind Alyssa Thomas (12).

The team once again impressed with their defensive play, as they allowed 69 points. Thus far the ladies only allow 73.7 points per game, which is the fewest total in the WNBA.

Now the ladies are going on the road for a back-to-back series against the Sky as they head on out to Chicago on Sunday for an 8:00 p.m. tip on June 22 at Wintrust Arena.
