New York City FC returns to Yankee Stadium to host Columbus Crew

New York City FC (4-7-6) gets to return to their energetic fan base and support group on Saturday as they are going to play host to the Columbus Crew (8-6-3) in Major League Soccer action.

The last two matches for the Boys in Blue have been stalemates, including the team’s last home match at Yankee Stadium against the New England Revolution. Then the guys went on the road to find another stalemate against Real Salt Lake.

The good news for the squad is that those results have been an improvement over what were tough losses against Philadelphia and Cincinnati (both by the final of 3-1).

The other good news is that the squad has a 2-1-1 record thus far at Yankee Stadium and have themselves a young, hungry and cohesive team looking to show that they can quickly rise up the standings in MLS. For the team and the fan base they all hope that with the training and the effort that has been put on the field that the climb can hopefully start on Saturday.

NYCFC and the Crew have had 19 meetings thus far, with Columbus having a slight edge in the wins department. The guys have an overall record of 7W- 8L-4D , the best news for the franchise though is that they have nearly won all of their home matches and that streak can hopefully continue this weekend.

The players to watch for in the match versus Columbus are going to be Midfielder Santiago Rodríguez, Forward Talles Magno, Midfielder Keaton Parks, and Forward Gabriel Pereira as they have all provided a spark.

Saturday is going to be a day of fun and festivies as fans are encouraged to head to Yankee Stadium to check out the “City Celebration of Black Excellence’ programming that is going to be presented by Montefiore Einstein.
