In one of the Washington Mystics toughest nights on the defensive sides of the court, the team as a whole saw a 87-66 loss to the Indiana Fever in WNBA action on Tuesday night.
With the game airing on the WNBA’s Twitter stream, the Mystics were unable to solve rookie sensation Aliyah Boston as she led the fever with 23 points, 14 rebounds and six assists.
As for the Mystics there were some performances that were impressive starting with that of Elena Delle Donne, as she finished with 17 points on 6-14 from the field. Delle Donne grabbed six rebounds and a season-high three blocks in the game.
Thanks to her scoring performance Delle Donne was able to pass fellow teammate Kristi Toliver for 30th on the WNBA all-time scoring list with 4,470 total points. In addition, the forward/guard was able to have her 56th career game with 3+ blocks. The last time that Elena achieved this feat was on August 7, 2022, vs. Las Vegas.
Mystics fans are encouraged to check out the following video featuring thoughts from Head Coach Eric Thibault, Elena Delle Donne and Brittney Sykes…compliments of the Washington Mystics:
Continuing her streak in the WNBA of games with at least one steal with 18 games Brittney Sykes continues to be a huge part of the team’s offense. Sykes chipped in nine points to go along with six boards, four assists, a steal and having a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line.
Helping to set up the offense is Natasha Cloud, as she was able to dish out five plus helpers for the seventh time this season. Cloud is now in elite company as she is tied with Diana Taurasi for the third most 5+ assist games in the WNBA this season.
The team feeling positive after a three-game road stretch getting themselves a 2-1 record returns back to the Entertainment and Sports Arena on June 16 to take on the Phoenix Mercury with the start of that game set for 8:00 p.m.
