Road Warriors Mystics wrapping up stretch with tough test against Indiana

The Washington Mystics (5-3) coming off two huge road wins in Seattle wrap up a road stretch against an Indiana Fever (2-6) squad who are looking to prove that they are going to be a team to watch for as the 2023 season progresses.

After the team’s shootaround session in Indiana the Mystics Amanda Zahui B. and Li Meng interacted with the media and chatted about the road trip thus far. Fans are encouraged to check out the video below to hear what the duo had to say. Video is compliments of the Washington Mystics:

The duo have been a part of a Mystics bench that has helped to contribute whenever Coach Eric Thibault needed for them too and that is one of the key takeaways that Zahui B had noticed thus far, “I felt like the second unit came in and we really kept the tempo of the game and kept the lead going. That is a really good takeaway, we know that we can do that. We can help the starters get that extra break and keep building on the lead.”

Meng who is continuing to grow in her role with the Mystics, as the guard has a 57.1 three-point percentage to go along with a 54.5% field goal percentage feels as if the team has shown an eagerness to win, “That has been a difference maker thus far. We are more eager to win the game than our opponents.”

Li, being in her first season in the WNBA is having an opportunity to see many places in the US for the first time in addition to learning a lot from each game the team has played. The Guard had these thoughts on the road trip thus far, “We got very good experiences out of this road trip -there are times where we played well, while other times we didn’t but as a whole we are progressing to getting better and we are learning from each other and how to play together. We are perfecting our playbook and I am looking forward to the games.”

Zahui B, bringing a 28.5 mark from the three-point percentage, feels positively about the team thus far saying, “I think it is great to see where we are at early on in the season playing in a playoff like game (in Seattle). That really showed which direction we are heading towards and that is great.”

The test versus Indiana though is going to be a tough one, the Fevers’ record is a deceptive one. Some of the players to watch for in the game on Tuesday night include Rookie Sensation Aliyah Boston.

Boston thus far is getting more into a groove of the WNBA season in her rookie year, has 13.6 points to go along with 7.1 rebounds, which is tied for Second place in the league, in addition to having 2.1 assist and that is tied for fifth.

“She is a great player-she has beautiful foot work it is going to be real interesting playing against her. Be we also know that they (the Indiana Fever) have a lot of threats not just her,” Zahui B. said about the First-Year player. The Center continued by saying, “They (the Fever) have Kelsey (Mitchell) with the ball they got Erica (Wheeler)-they got a stacked team and I think they are playing very well together. So, this is going to be another great test for us. We are on the road (we have been so for a while) this is the last game on the road trip and just see where we stand against a younger team that is really hungry for success.”

The Mystics and the Fever game is set for 7:00 p.m. with fans wanting to catch the action can do so on the NBC Sports Washington Network.
