Washington Mystics ready for next step against the Sun

As the Washington Mystics get settled into the WNBA season, they are already facing one of the earlier challenges of the schedule. What it is going to be like to go on the road and the quick turnaround of the season.

After a highly emotional night in the Entertainment and Sports Arena, the team had very little sleep, hopped on the plane and traveled to Connecticut for the second game of the year.

It is going to be an emotional day, yet again, as the Sun is honoring one of the all-time greats in the WNBA in Taj McWilliams-Franklin prior to the start of the actual game.

Taj and her career is one that has touched many lives, as her playing career spanned three decades and was playing ball even prior to the foundation of the WNBA.

McWilliams-Franklin showed a whole generation of basketball players, what it is to be successful both on and off the floor in the W.

In addition, Taj is someone who is involved in the W’s Community related efforts and took part in the WNBA Her Time To Play Clinic held in 2020. 1495 Sports had the honor of covering that event and fans can check out that coverage by checking out the video seen below:

Getting back to the Mystics, they are hoping to continue to show the type of continuity and play that has made them a successful WNBA teams by going up against a Sun team that is going to be fun to watch.

Mystics fans are encouraged to check out the video below featuring thoughts from Ariel Atkins and Brittney Sykes:

The Sun have a unique blend of both newer players and those who have WNBA experience, so this is going to be an interesting test.

With all the emotions and feelings that are in play the Washington Mystics are one hour away from taking on the Connecticut Sun with the tip set for 1:00 p.m.
