Laney and Thornton are going to be two pieces to New York Liberty puzzle

One of the teams that women’s basketball fans have been talking about thus far have been the 2023 edition of the New York Liberty.


With a roster chocked full of All-Stars and future Hall of Famers they have been dubbed as one of the WNBA Super Teams and it is easy to see why.


Two pieces to that 2023 New York Liberty success puzzle is going to be Betnijah Laney and Kayla Thornton.


Laney is a star for the New York Liberty as she enters into her sixth season in the W. Recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery, the forward averaged 12.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 minutes when she returned to the roster.

Liberty fans along with fans of Laney are going to keep a close eye to see how she contributes to the team during the 2023 season, as she is going to be one of many offensive options to help the team in scoring the ball.


In addition one of the newest members of the 2023 team Kayla Thornton is hoping to make a splash with the squad. Last with the Dallas Wings, Thornton finished the 2022 season with 8.0 points, 5.9 rebounds in 29.2 minutes per game

These two amazing women are going to be the biggest pieces to any success that the 2023 New York Liberty team are going to have as having multiple scoring options is going to be huge in them going up against some of the toughest competition out there.


The Liberty along with the rest of the WNBA are going to continue to practice until May 19. That is when the ladies get their first true test of the season in going up against one of the best team’s in the league in the Washington Mystics. Tip-off time at the Entertainment and Sports Arena is set for 7:00 p.m.
