The ladies of Gotham FC are going to continue the NWSL season, as they return to the UKG NWSL Challenge Cup action by going on the road and taking on the North Carolina Courage on Wednesday, May 3.
Playing at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina, the action is set for 7:00 p.m. with all the action airing on the Paramount + Network.
Thus far Gotham FC has played very well in the 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup, as they are one of the four teams to earn three points with the victory in the opening match. They join the OL Reign, Kansas City Current and San Diego Wave in accomplishing that feat.
That victory is a big one for Gotham FC as they were able to beat East Coast Rivals the Washington Spirit at Red Bull Arena by a final of 1-0. The stars of that match are Lynn Williams as she recorded a goal in the 56th minute along with goalkeeper Mandy Haught as she was able to keep the Spirit scoreless.
These two teams have met before, as Gotham FC earned the 1-0 victory on April 22. Helping to lead the way in that one is Williams, getting the 80th minute goal after the weather delay.
Thus far Williams has been one of the players to watch for on the roster, as she has been able to create space and amazing plays. The forward has been able to tally goals in 42 consecutive matches for the squad and hopes to continue that streak on Wednesday.
After the ladies conclude the UKG NWSL Challenge Cup action the return to regular season play against the Chicago Red Stars on Sunday, May 7 with the start of that match set for 6:00 p.m.
