New York City FC Continue strong showing in Queens in 3-1 victory over FC Dallas

One of the trends for New York City FC is the fact that they have always played well in front of their home fans. They were able to continue that trend in the most recent 3-1 victory over FC Dallas in MLS action on Saturday.

Wearing their new environmentally friendly kits on Earth Day, it was an intense atmosphere as the crowd at Citi Field had gotten the night rocking from the start.

Things were nail-biting from the start as Gabriel Pereira thought he had a goal, but that got denied by VAR.

There was some great action between the Boys in Blue and FC Dallas, that ultimately led the home side to finding the first goal of the night. Dallas made themselves a huge error on the defensive side of the pitch, as there was a turnover that eventually got to the foot of Santiago Rodriguez.

New York City FC fans are encouraged to check out these thoughts from Head Coach Nick Cushing after the team’s victory over FC Dallas:

The midfielder was able to get the ball low and past FC keeper Maarten Paes for the 1-0 lead.

Rodriguez got himself another goal at the 50′ mark, prior to the final NYCFC goal being tallied by Talles Magno at the 55′.

Head Coach Nick Cushing had seen some changes that he had wanted to make around the 65th minute, as he was able to implement some key strategies. Alfredo Morales subbed in for Richy Ledezma while Andres Jasson and Matias Pellegrini replaced Magno and Pereira.

Dallas made the night close and started to get the fans at Citi Field to start to bite their nails, when in the 77th minute Jose Martinez had the first goal of the night. Fans of FC Dallas got to see their team fight till the very end of the match, but at the end of things New York City FC and their defense stood tall.

It will be interesting to see what happens next for New York City FC as one of the toughest tests thus far in the season has been their struggles to win on the road. Ironically enough the guys are going to go on a long string of road games that will start with a trip to Toronto FC that starts next week.
