Albany FireWolves Fall short against Philadelphia

It was such a close night for the Albany FireWolves (3-14) as they were just edged out by the Philadelphia Wings (8-9) by a final of 10-9 in MVP Arena in Albany New York.


Both of the teams played stellar defense, including some great play by Albany as they were able to keep Philly scoreless in two periods. The FireWolves had themselves the lead with five minutes of play in regulation, but the Wings got the late momentum and the eventual victory.


Leading the way on the offensive side for Albany was Connor Kelly, Jake Fox, Ethan Walker all tallied two goals each, while Marshall Powless, John Piatelli, Thomas Vaesen all found the back of the net once.


In the cage Albany goalie Doug Jamieson had 43 saves in 63:48 minutes played.


Philadelphia meanwhile was led by Joe Resetarits and Ben McIntosh as they three goals each, while Blaze Riorden, Mitch Jones, Taite Cattoni and Sam LeClair scored once.


Philly goalie Zach Higgins had himself a strong showing making 54 saves in 63:48 minutes played.


The Albany FireWolves wrap-up the 2023 National Lacrosse League regular season play in MVP Arena when they host the Buffalo Bandits at 7:00 p.m.
