On a chilly day at Maimonides Park the Brooklyn Cyclones (3-7) scrapped till the very end but fell to the Wilmington Blue Rocks (5-5) in Minor League Baseball action.
It was a wild day for both the Cyclones and the Blue Rocks as there was a total of five errors that was made by each team. In the good news department though there were also some stellar plays that were made in the field as well.
One such play came in the Top of the Fifth Inning, when Omar De Los Santos made an amazing grab robbing Jared McKenzie of a hit.
At the plate for the Cyclones there were a ton of hard-hit balls, including that from Alex Ramirez who ripped a double to left field in the bottom of the First Inning.

Jaylen Palmer had himself a great inning in the Bottom of the Fourth. That is when Palmer drove the ball to left field getting the momentum in favor of the home team. That was the momentum the Cyclones needed, as they tied up the score at three, when Kevin Kendall was able to find a great spot to hit into the center field area and driving in the runs that tied up the game.
It was in the Top of the Seventh that Wilmington gained the lead and didn’t look back, it was in that frame that shortstop Jordy Barley smashed a homer over the left field wall and into the amusement park rides that had lifted the Blue Rocks to victory.
For those who are Washington Nationals fans one of the top prospects in the Nationals system in James Wood is currently on the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and so far there has been a ton of buzz around the outfielder.
The Cyclones had three pitchers on the mound in Game One as Jeffrey Colon went 3.2 Innings Pitched, while striking out five batters in the start. Getting the call from the bullpen Manny Rodriguez went three innings and struck out one batter, and also getting some relief work in was Wilkin Ramos as he pitched 2.1 Innings and striking out three batters.
Colon is going to be a pitcher to watch for as when the 2023 season started, Baseball America listed him as the 14th Prospect to watch Beyond the Top 30. The Dominican Republic starter currently has eight strikeouts so far this season and will continue to show what he has in terms of stuff as the 2023 Season progresses.
The Cyclones and the Blue Rocks continue the six-game homestand with Game Two on Tuesday. Brooklyn is going to have righty Joander Suarez (0-1, 27.00 ERA) on the mound taking on Andrew Alvarez (1-0, 5.14 ERA)
In his Minor League Career so far Suarez, who hails from Cumana, Venezuela has been able to strike out 118 batters and hopes to add to that total in his next start against the Blue Rocks.
