The Boys in Blue are looking to play some sweet music in front of a capacity crowd this Saturday, as they take on Nashville in a match that is set to start at 7:30 p.m.
This is going to be the first time that the Boys in Blue are going to play at Citi Field, and the sixth during the MLS Regular Season. The relationship that NYCFC has had thus far with their fans in Queens has been a special one as they have been able to win twice, draw three times and scoring nine goals during that time.
NYCFC Head Coach Nick Cushing had these thoughts prior to the team’s match against Nashville in Queens:
The last time that the guys were at Citi Field was in the 2022 Season, that was during their magical MLS Cup Playoffs. That is when they took on Inter Miami and saw a 3-0 victory on October 17.
In addition defender Maxime Chanot has these thoughts on what it will be like to play up against Nashville, playing at Citi Field and lots more -check out the video below:
New York City FC has been able to improve a ton since their last meeting against Nashville on Matchday 1, as the return of James Sands and Santiago Rodriguez has helped to lift the team. In addition the franchise has been able to add Richy Ledezma and Gabe Segal.
In the head-to-head season stats NYCFC has been able to have more possessions (54%-43%), shots (10.7-10.6), shots on goal (3.7-2.9), total passes (460.3-375.3). Nashville has played well on the defensive side of the field though as they have been able to block more shots (2.7-3.3) and saves (1.7-3.4).
There will be a radical moment for New York City FC as during Halftime they are going to recognize the NYCFC’s Special Olympics United team, the City Hawks to the warning track. The partnership between NYCFC and City Hawks has started since 2016 and there have been a ton of amazing clinics and special events held since then.
The stage has been set as New York City FC takes on Nashville SC on April 15, as the night is set to start at 7:39 p.m.
