Mets Hitting the road on a High Note after Successful Series against Marlins and Padres

It was a heck of a homecoming for the New York Mets (7-6) as they were able to fare well against the Miami Marlins and recently take two out of three games from the San Diego Padres.

In the series against the Marlins, the first game was a strong showing as the guys finished the game by a final of 9-3. Tylor Megill had six strong innings and three strikeouts to lead the way on the mound while Francisco Lindor had a 1-for-3 day at the plate hitting a homer and driving in two RBIs.

New York kept on rolling in the second game, as it was the Citi Field debut of Kodai Senga, who once again impressed with his ghost forkball. Kodai went six innings, sitting down six batters as he once again amazed fans of the club. As for the bats they were led by Pete Alonso who had a 1-for-3 day at the dish, hitting a homer and plating two runs.

In the finale the guys had a tough 7-2 loss as Mark Canha had himself a nice day with two hits.

Thankfully when the San Diego Padres came into town the team continued to play well, as the first game was an impressive 5-0 victory.

That was one heck of a pitcher’s duel as Max Schezer outdueled Yu Darvish. Scherzer is moving up the ranks in the all time strikeout list as the righty now has 3,207.

Lindor once again had himself a great performance at the plate as he went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

In the second game was a tough one of the guys, especially starter David Peterson as he went 5.2 innings and striking out six batters.

Thankfully the series was saved in the finale, as the Mets were able to finish up the series with a 5-2 decision. The team’s offense had themselves a day, especially the bat of Alonso, as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Tommy Pham contributes to put together great at-bats for the team as he had a 2-for-3 day at the dish driving in an RBI and also stealing a base.

Up next for the squad will be a long road stretch out in California, as the team starts a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics starting on Friday.

This will be an interesting first game as Kodai Senga is once again on the mound for New York, as he looks to continue to wow those who follow the team with his amazing ghost forkball. On the other side though, Oakland will have starter James Kaprielian on the mound.

Thus far Kaprielian has been able to strike out 236 batters in his career while having a 13-15 overall record. The UCLA product was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 2015 with their 16th Overall pick will look to show why he will be a key to the Athletics success during the course of the 2023 Season.

Meanwhile for Senga, he looks to continue to settle into MLB life and become more confident in his ability to mix up his pitches while keeping the hitters guessing as to what happens next.

The Mets and Athletics game will take place at Oakland Coliseum with the first pitch set for 9:40 p.m.
