Thus far in the short Major League Soccer season one of the trends for New York City FC is that they have played well in front of their home crowd at Yankee Stadium. In the two matches that the Boys in Blue have been able to host they have seen victories against Inter Miami and D.C. Unted.
There is a special bond between the players and the fans in attendance whenever they get to have a match at Yankee Stadium. Thus far the Cityzens have a 9-1-2 mark in 12 appearances and an overall mark of 65-17-26.
NYCFC Head Coach Nick Cushing had these thoughts on the match:
The Boys in Blue will have a chance to keep that trend going as they go up against Atlanta United in a match that will start at 7:39 p.m.
These two franchises have a long history against the other, as they have been able to meet 13 times and always in competitive clashes. The last time New York City FC and Atlanta United were able to play against the other was at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, that was when Gabriel Pereira helped lift the quad to a 2-1 victory.
