The Empire Classic always has the best College Basketball teams in action at Madison Square Garden. The 2023 edition is going to be no different as reigning Champs UConn, Indiana, Texas and Louisville will have a chance to compete in front of fans. The 2023 Empire Classic is presented by Continental Tire will benefit Wounded Warrior Project and will be at Madison Square Garden in November 19-20.
In what was one of the more phenomenal NCAA runs the University of Connecticut was able to win the 2023 National Championship after shooting the roof off of just about every arena they were run. Thanks to Head Coach Dan Hurley the Huskies are currently ranked #1 on ESPN Way-Too-Early 2023-24 Preseason Poll.
Indiana was able to finish the season with a 23-12 record and reached the round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament. Mike Woodson, who is the Coach of Indiana, also used to Coach the New York Knicks so this will be a bit of a homecoming for Woodson.
Texas, who is always known for having a stellar basketball program, finished the year with a 29-9 record under Rodney Terry and was able to advance to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament. Texas will be appearing in the Empire Classic for the seventh time, which is the most of any school.
Louisville looks to regain their winning ways thanks to Head Coach Kenny Payne. Payne, who also acted as an assistant with the Knicks will bring that experience with him to the program. This is Louisville’s first time in the Empire Classic
