Welcome to the NWSL Season, things will be very fast and there will be a ton of great soccer teams featured. On Saturday afternoon the Washington Spirit will look to build off the team’s first victory at Audi Field with a tough road test against Racing Louisville.
Kickoff between the two clubs is set for 3:00 pm at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky and fans can watch the action on Paramount Plus.
In the Spirit’s home opener, the ladies were able to finish with a 1-0 victory against the OL Reign. The first goal of the season came from the foot of Trinity Rodman, which was the 11th NWSL regular season goal of her career.
This will be the seventh meeting between these two franchises, as the Spirit has played well against Racing Louisville with a 3-1-2 overall record, a 2-01- home record and a 1-1-1 road record.
Leading the scoring has been Ashley Hatch as she has four goals in the games, in addition Maddie Elwell was able to have her first career goal against Lousivlle last season.
Goalkeeper Aubrey Kingsbury has been a huge part of the Washington Spirit, and continues to play a part in the team earning three points. In the team’s victory against the OL Reign Aubrey was able to make four saves and recorded her 27th clean sheet.
If the Washington Spirit are able to get the victory today, it will be the first road victory since the 2021 NWSL Semis when the team defeated the OL Reign.
