Gotham FC set to have their Home Opener on Saturday

After many months of waiting and training the members of Gotham FC will have a chance to play in front of their fans at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.


Even though there is rain in the area thus far plans are still on for the day’s festivities.


Fans attending the game should ready themselves for a day of fun and festivities as starting a 5:00 p.m. on the Boulevard there will be face painting, DJs, soccer darts and lots more.


Prior to the start of the game owners Eli Manning and Carli Lloyd will be on hand for the newest addition to the start of the matches. At the start of every home match the club will feature a Torch Lighting ceremony that will be conducted by the club’s passionate supporters and special guests.


Gotham FC is hoping to have a ton of surprises when it comes time for the Torch Lighting ceremony, as there will be local heroes, celebrities, professional athletes and other dignitaries to appear.


The match itself will feature a ton of star power, as members of the U.S. Women’s National Team will showcase their skills in front of the fans. Gotham FC will feature Lynn Williams, Kelly O’Hara and Kristie Mewis, while the OL Reign will feature Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle.


These two teams have a long history against each other, as they have played against the other during the 2015 season. thus far Gotham FC holds a 4-6-5 record against the OL Reign that includes a record of 2-2-2 in home matches.


In the team’s last meeting the OL Reign were able to earn a 1-0 victory. Gotham FC is hoping to change their fate today and continue the momentum that they were able to build on the road in their thrilling 2-1 victory over Angel City.
