Happy Opening day as Mets take on Marlins on the Road

Hope and optimism spring once again as the 2023 Major League Baseball season is about to get started.

For the Mets they will have an opportunity to open on the road at loanDepot Park in Miami, Florida, as this will be their 62nd season.

When it comes time for the opening game, the Mets always fare well as they have the best winning percentage (40-21, .656) at the start of the baseball season.

New York also does pretty well on the road as they hold a 17-12 record, that is a record that started in the 2021 season. Thus far the Mets have been able to win eight of their last 12 games on the road.

It will be a battle of the righties as Max Scherzer takes on Sandy Alcantara. Scherzer is no stranger to starting things off for baseball teams, ahs he has started in seven opening days during the course of his illustrious career.

In the six seasons that Scherzer started with the Nationals, having a record of 1-3 with a 2.72 ERA. It will be a bit of a historical day for Max as he will be the first pitcher to start both for and against the Mets on Opening Day in his career.

The test will be a tough one for New York though, as Alcantara has been able to win the Cy Young Award in the past. So far the Mets have been able to go up against going up against a defending Cy Young Award winner on Opening Day twice. Those games involved Tom Seaver and Steve Carlton.

This will also be a first for the Mets, as the guys are opening the season for the first time since 2011. In that year New York Fell to the Florida Marlins by a score of 6-2.

Now fans can get ready for the excitement, the energy, and the renewed hope that is opening day as the New York Mets takes on the Miami Marlins. First pitch between the two squads is set for 4:10 p.m.
