There has been a buzz around the WWE as of late, especially as the company is marching towards their WrestleMania PPV.
The company has been able to make one blockbuster announcement after another, especially when it comes time for brining their talent internationally.
One of the more recent announcements the company has been able to make is that WWE SmackDown will have a chance to tape in Puerto Rico the weekend of their Backlash PPV. Both events will hail from the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot on May 5.
The WWE who will team with the Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority along with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company to bring the Superstars to the fans in that country.
“The PRCDA and the Puerto Rico Tourism Company have a phenomenal track record of delivering large-scale events to the island,” said John Porco, WWE Executive Vice President, Live Events. “Their partnership and support have allowed WWE to bring not just one – but two – nights of sports entertainment to Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot this May.”

Our unique venues provide the perfect settings to receive our visitors and to guarantee them an incredible experience. Events such as WWE’s Backlash and SmackDown provide a great venue to showcase the island’s assets both as a diverse travel destination, and an ideal location to hold international events such as this,” said Carlos Mercado Santiago, Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Tourism Company.
One of the biggest buzzes around Backlash is the fact that it will be hosted by two-time GRAMMY® award-winning and global recording artist Bad Bunny. The WWE has a great relationship with Bad Bunny so far, as the singing sensation has thrilled fans with his wrestling style, in addition he has stared in several commercials and even appears in the latest WWE video game programming.
