In what was a classic at Madison Square Garden, the St. John’s University Men’s Basketball team fell to Marquette in the Second Round of the BIG EAST Tournament on Thursday.

Marquette, who won the BIG EAST Tournament during the 2022-23 season, now has a seven-game winning streak, having won 12 of their last 13 contest.

Helping to lead the way for the Red Storm was Dylan Addae-Wusu who had 16 points, in addition David Jones also had 16 points. One of the leaders in double-doubles struck again in a fine performance for the Red Storm as Joel Soriano had 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Fans are also encouraged to check out the post game press conference featuring St. John’s Head Coach Mike Anderson:

As for Marquette, Tyler Kolke had 19 points, while Oliver-Maxence Prosper led the way with 16 points, and Oso Ighodaro had 10 points.

For Prosper the 16 points are the most since he was able to tally 17 against the University of Connecticut on January 11.

The Golden Eagles hold a 13-16 all-time record in the BIG EAST Tournament, in addition the team will return to the semis for the fourth time. The last time that Marquette was in the semis was in the 2019 season.

Up next for the St. John’s Men’s Basketball team will hopefully be an entry into the NIT Tournament, while Marquette will await the winner of the No. 4 UConn vs No. 5 Providence match.
