The Hofstra University Men’s Basketball team roared into the CAA Semifinal round thanks to a 94-46 victory over William and Mary on Sunday afternoon. Playing in the Nation’s Capital of Washington DC. Redshirt Senior Aaron Estrada had 22 points and a career-high tying 10 rebounds, while Tyler Thomas had 22 points.
The victory for the Hofstra Men’s Basketball team was their 12th in a row, as prior to the start of the Tournament the guys have been playing a great style of basketball.
Also shining in the Quarterfinal game was Jaquan Carlos who had 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in the game.
There were some impressive numbers that were put up by the Hofstra Men’s Basketball team during the course of the game, as the halftime lead of 37 is the largest in CAA Championship history. In addition, the 48-point margin of victory is the biggest in tournament history. A fun fact from the game was that the halftime margin the team had broke the previous mark of 25 (39-14) that was set by Towson against Drexel during the 2009 season. In addition, the game margin broth Monmouth’s record of 36 (100-64) that was set on Wednesday in the first round against Hampton.
Thanks to the victory over William and Mary, Hofstra now holds a 24-8 overall record, in addition the team’s 12-game winning streak ranks as the fifth-longest in program history. Thus far the 12-game winning streak is one of six of 12 or more games and that is also tied with the 1955-56 squad that also saw the feat.
Thus far this 12-game winning streak is the longest since a 16-game streak during the 2018-19 campaign and heading into the tournament the streak ranked as the fifth-longest current streak at the NCAA Division 1 level.
Up next for the Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will be the semifinal round, as they will take UNCW on Monday at 6:00 p.m. Fans are encouraged to watch the action on the CBS Sports Network.
