Washington Spirit Sign Chloe Ricketts to three-year Deal

In the search for the future stars of the NWSL, the Washington Spirit are hopeful to see another star on the pitch during the course of the 2023 season. They did just that by signing Chloe Ricketts to a three-year deal, with an option for 2026.

Ricketts will be the youngest player in the NWSL, as she will join the team through the league’s new Under-18 Entry Mechanism.
Chloe who has been with the Washington Spirit throughout the preseason training, has been invited to the team in Florida as well as training in Virginia. thus far Ricketts has been able to impress the staff with her drive and ability to compete.

“This season, we remain very focused on building a roster that can help us succeed now while also investing in the future,” said Head Coach Mark Parsons. “Chloe has shown great quality with and without the ball and has an incredible intensity in everything she does. The vision and infrastructure of our club make this signing possible, and we are look forward to Chloe developing and becoming an important player and teammate for our team.”

Ricketts will be able to complete her education thanks to the support of the team, and thanks to the new technology that is out there. Per the NWSL’s new Under-18 Entry Mechanism, Chloe will have a spot on the roster and will reside with a parent or guardian until she turns 18.

Hailing from Dexter, Michigan, Chloe has played some impressive soccer thus far. In these early years she has been able to play with the AFC Ann Arbor team in 2002, along with the 2007 Boys Ann Arbor Tigers that won the Michigan State Cup, and the National League Great Lakes Conference. In addition, she was a part of the 2006 Girls team that was able to advance to the Elite Clubs National League Finals.

“The opportunity to join the Washington Spirit on a professional contract is a dream come true,” Ricketts stated. “I’m looking forward to continuing my development as a player and individual with the great resources here in the District. Having the chance to work with Dawn Scott (Performance, Medical and Innovation) and Head Coach Mark Parsons as I begin my professional career is exciting, and I can’t wait to do my part in contributing to the club’s success… Now, let’s go win another championship!”
