St. John’s Women’s Basketball earns Johnnies Day victory over DePaul, 77-61

It was a stellar performance for Jayla Everett who had a season-high 26 points to lead the St. John’s Women’s Basketball team past DePaul, 77-61 on Saturday hoops action in Queens.

Everett was able to have a 5-for-7 performance from 3-point range, while also shooting 9-for-15 from the floor. Jayla also was able to lead St. John’s in assists with four in front of a great crowd at Carnesecca Arena.

In addition to Everett, the St. John’s Women’s Basketball team had five others with double figures for the first time this season.

Having her fifth double-double of the season was Jillian Archer, as she was able to have 11 points and 11 rebounds.

In one of her better performances with the Red Storm, Mimi Reid had 11 points as well, as the graduate student had a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Also adding 11 rebounds was Rayven Peeples, as she also had three assists and four blocks in teh game.

Rounding out the scoring for St. John’s University was Unique Drake (10 points) and Kadaja Bailey (11 points) as they both had outstaning performances for hte team.

One of the things that the St. John’s University Women’s Basketball team has been known for is their defensive performance, and they were able to find that form once again in the game against DePaul, as they were able to hold the Blue Demons to 61 points.

Leading the way in scoring for DePaul was Aneesah Morrow who had 23 points and eight boards.

Up next for the St. John’s University will be a tough test as they will host No. 15 Villanova University on Wednesday, February 15. The tip between these two teams will be at 7:00 p.m.
