It will be a clash of two of the best in the National Lacrosse League, as the Albany FireWolves (2-3) take on the Philadelphia Wings (2-4) on February 4, with the start time set for 7:00 p.m. Albany will come into play very well rested as they have a bye week, while Philadelphia looks to rebound after facing their third loss in a row last Friday.
Here are some players to watch for:
Albany:
Tanner Thomson: Is one of the scoring threats for the Albany FireWolves in the past few weeks. In his second year with the team the forward had a five-point performance on two goals and three assists. Thus far Thomson leads the team with 14 assists and 20 total points.
Colton Watkinson: Has been one of the leaders on the team and has thrived as the assistant captain. Thus far Watkinson has led both on and off the field and has improved his play by leaps and bounds. In the last game, Watkinson did everythign recoding two points on a goal and an assist.
Leo Stouros : Made an impact for Albany in his debut, the defender has been helping to solidify the rest of the Albany line. Thus far in his career Stouros has 77 career games played and hopes to bring his championship experience to the team.
Philadelphia:
Joe Resetarits : Is a name that is familiar to the FireWolves fans, as he at one part of the time was a part of the team’s roster and even led them in scoring. Thus far with the Wings Resetarits leads the team with 3 points and 20 assist, while also ranking second on the team with his 13 goals.
Blaze Riorden : Is another familiar name to those in the Albany region, as he is a graduate of the University of Albany. Thus far Riorden has 15 goals and ranks second on the team with 24 points. In the most recent game the team played, the Forward had three points thanks to two goals and an assist.
Zach Higgins and Angus Goodleaf : Are the goaltenders on the team, and they have been able to see action in all six of the Wings games this season. Higgins has had the bulk of the time this year, but Goodleaf has also seen some big moments. Thus far Higgins has a 13.10 GAA, while Goodleaf has a 10.90.
This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this season, as they will meet again in Albany the second to last weekend of the regular season.
