Jayla Everett has been on a roll for the St. John’s Women’s Basketball team, as the shooting guard has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the fifth time this season.
Everett has been one of the stars for the Red Storm, as she has helped to lead the team in their victories over Marquette and DePaul last week. The redshirt senior totaled 21.0 points over the two games and was able to finish with a 47.3 percent from beyond-the-arc during the two-game stretch.
In the victory over Marquette on Wednesday, 66-61, at Carnesecca Arena. Everett was able to have a team-high 18 points and four assists. The shooting-guard was able to follow that performance up with a great performance against DePaul, tallying 24 points in an 81-72 victory in Chicago. The St. Louis-native set a new season-high with nine made field goal attempts, going 50% (9-for-18) from the floor.
Thus far in the season, Everett leads the team and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST averaging 17.3 points-per-game. Jayla is known to be a prolific shooter, having an astounding 41-2 percent from deep, while also checking in at third in the conference with 47 three-pointers on the season.
St. John’s University will start the second half of conference play against Butler University on Wednesday night at Carnesecca Arena, as the tip is set for 7:00 p.m.
