Road Warriors St. John’s Women’s Basketball grabs victory over DePaul, 81-72

Winning on the road is always a tough task, but the St. John’s Women’s Basketball team showed heart and hustle in the team’s  81-72 victory over DePaul.

The victory for the Red Storm was the first over DePaul since March 7, 2016 and was able to help the team break a 13-game losing streak against their BIG EAST foe.

Helping to lead the way for St. John’s was Jayla Everett who had 24 points at WinTrust Arena, and that marks the sixth-time that Everett was able to reach the 20 point mark. The redshirt senior was able to finish the night 9-of-18 from the floor, while tying her season-best with five made three-pointers.

Tallying a double-double for the Red Storm was Jillian Archer, which is her fourth of the season, as she was able to finish the game with 10 points and 11 boards.

Getting some valuable time off the bench was Unique Drake, who finished with a season-high 19 points, going 8-for-12 from the field. 

Helping to round out the scoring for St. John’s was Kadaja Bailey, who recorded 12 points. The guard was able to tie a season-high nine rebounds while also dishing out a game-high four assists.

DePaul was led by Aneesha Morrow who had 26 points and 11 rebounds in the game.

The St. John’s Women’s Basketball team will return to Carnesecca Arena on January 25 when they take on Butler University, with the tip between the two BIG EAST Conference rivals starting at 7:00 p.m.
