It will be a first for New York City FC, as they will take on Atlas F.C. and Toronto FC in the first ever Leagues Cup.
Fan anticipation will begin for the Concacaf competition, as 47 clubs, 18 from LIGA MX and 29 from Major League Soccer will all participate in a World Cup-style tournament.
The action will begin on July 21 and will continue on August 19, 2023. Fans of soccer will have a rematch from the Campeones Cup as New York City FC and Atlas F.C. will have a second opportunity to go up against each other. In the first meeting NYCFC earned a 2-0 victory to earn the Campeones Cup.
As for the rivalry between New York City FC and Toronto FC, these two teams are no strangers to each other. As these clubs have met twice last season, with both seeing a victory each.
The rules of the Leagues Cup will be simple as every team will play two match’s in the Group Stage, with the top two teams from each group, as determined by points, advancing to the Knockout Stage Round of 32.
