There will some dynamic stars added to the Gotham FC roster, as the team has been able to acquire U.S. Women’s National Team Lynn Williams in addition to adding MAC Hermann Award finalist Jenna Nighswonger to the team. In addition the club added Iliana Hocking as the team’s 44th overall pick.
Fans will be excited to see Williams in action as she will be one of the players to watch for Gotham FC. Thus far the forward has been able to win three league championships in addition to being named NWSL MVP and the Golden Boot winner. In addition to that Lynn is second all-time in the leagues record books in goals and assists.
“Lynn Williams is a proven goal scorer who plays to her strengths and to the strengths of those around her,” said Head Coach Juan Carlos Amorós. “She is a player who can get in behind the defense to create chances and can support holding up the play. Lynn is a great finisher in the box and a both-sided player who leads the forward line with an attitude and work ethic that presses the opposition.”
Williams will be joining Gotham FC teammates Midge Purce and Kristie Mewis as a part of the 24-player USWNT roster who are in New Zealand for a pair of international friendlies.

The addition of Nighswoner is one that will make fans excited as the forward was one of the top college players in the U.S. in 2022. Thus far Jenna has been able to tally six goals and 16 assist in 22 games in helping to lead Florida State to their third consecutive College Cup.
“We acquired the fourth pick specifically with the aim of adding Jenna to our team,” said Averbuch West. “She is a player who we feel will adapt quickly to NWSL, has enormous potential, and fits well into what we are building.”
Nighswonger is a star both on and off the field, as she has been involved in the community by donating money from her NIL deal to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“I’m really excited to be drafted by Gotham FC,” Nighswonger said. “My entire focus is on getting ready to join the team in camp and begin my professional career.”
One of the newest stars to Gotham FC will be Iliana Hocking who played as a midfielder out of the University of Arizona, it will be interesting to see what the transition from College to NWSL will be for Hocking.
