Another dynamic signing for New York City FC has been made as forward Gabriel Segal has been signed off waivers.
Segal, who hails from Bethesda, Maryland, arrives to New York City FC from FC Koln in Germany after he had been a part of the Stanford University roster. Due to the fact that Segal played at the college level in the U.S. Gabriel was acquired off waivers in order to play for New York City FC.
“We would like to welcome Gabe to New York City FC,” said Sporting Director David Lee. “He is young, talented, domestic attacker who had an excellent collegiate career at Stanford alongside playing for the US Youth National team. We are excited to have an opportunity to continue the development.”
“The addition of New York City FC II to the player development pathway allows us to take advantage of these opportunities with the ability to play regular minutes in MLS NEXT Pro competition.”
In the time that he played in Germany, Segal appeared in 12 matches and provided in assist for FC Koln II. During Segal’s collegiate career with the Cardinals, the forward played in 54 games, scoring 14 goals and five assists, winning a Pac-12 Championships and earning an All-Pac-12 selection during the 20/21 season.
When playing on the international level, Segal has been able to represent the United States across the U-18, U-17, U-16, and U-14 levels since January 2015.
