PREVIEW: Albany FireWolves vs Halifax Thunderbirds

In National Lacrosse League action the Albany FireWolves will take on the Halifax Thunderbirds. Recently Halifax was able to earn a win over the Firebirds by a final of 14-11.

Albany thus far has been led by Connor Kelly who is having a stellar debut season. Kelly has been able to rack up a ton of points with 15, goals 7 and assist 8, and in the team’s previous meeting against the Thunderbirds had five points on four goals. 

Another rising star for the Firebirds has been Kieran McArdle, who sits fourth on the team in total points 9, goals 5 and is third in assists 6. In McArdles most recent showing the forward recorded four points on one goal and three assists.

McCardle and Kelly have been providing a one-two punch for the opposing team defenses and will be players to watch for as the season progresses.

Brining the high energy to the Albany FireWolves has been Jackon Nishimura, who uses his speed to pick up the loose balls on the field and has been solid on defense while helping to lead the teams offense. Nishimury has been one of the reasons why the FireWolves has had success on the offensive side of the field with an amazing ability to find his teammates. 

Halifax meanwhile has been led by Eric Fannell who has been able to find the back of the net three times after the halftime break. Thus far through four games, Fannell has recorded 15 points on nine goals and six assists.

The Thunderbirds have also been led by Cody Jamieson who had a quiet night on offense by racking up four points on one goal and three assists. Jamieson who has been leading Halifax as their captain, proving valuable leadership in addition to totaling 24 points and 16 assists. 

This will be the second time these two teams have met. Up next for the FireWolves will be the battle of New York as the team will take on the New York Riptide in a game that will start at 7 p.m.
