The New York Riptide started off on a strong showing against the Toronto Rock, but the face-off circle ultimately betrayed them as they fell to the Toronto Rock by a final of 15-7.
Callum Crawford, Kevin Brownell and Scott Dominey found the back of the cage for New York. Toronto was able to find a goal though and started to cut into that lead. In the net for New York Steven Orleman had 14 saves in the 1Q to be able to keep the Rock off the board for the most part.
Toronto started to get hot in the second half as they had four goals in the frame before Larson Sundown had a twisting shot find the back of the net around the 5:04 mark to make the score a one goal game. The Rock were able to strike quickly though as Zach Manns was able to record his second goal with 42 seconds later.

The Riptide responded again as Dominey got his second of the game with 2:06 left. Mitch de Snoo helped to lead the Rock to a 7-5 lead at the half.
It was in the Second Half that Toronto started to catch fire as TD lerlan made the score 13-5. Toronto continued to go on a run building up to a 15-7 victory.
What hurt the Riptide the most was the fact that they were just unable to win their face-offs. Toronto completely dominated in the circle winning 20 of the chances that they had. That had led to the Toronto offensive opportunities and ultimately them winning the game.
In the cage for New York Steve Orleman made 42 saves while Nick Rose had 34 saves.
New York hopes to get back on their winning ways when they return to NYCB Live Arena on January 15 for a 3:00 p.m. game
