St. John’s Women’s Basketball Jillian Archer Named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

St. John’s women’s basketball forward Jillian Archer earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition, the conference office announced on Monday.

Archer was a dominant force on the glass collecting a season-high 17 boards in a 68-48 win over Georgetown on Dec. 31. Her rebound mark was just one shy of her career-high and tied Rayven Peeples for the most by a Red Storm player this season.

The Georgetown transfer chipped in nine points against her old squad, including five during a crucial 17-2 second quarter run that blew the game open for the Johnnies.

The Santa Monica, Cali., native has given the Red Storm a significant boost in rebounding. The forward averages 8.5 boards per game, which ranks fifth in the conference.

In the scoring department, Archer is averaging 8.5 points per game, shooting an efficient 50.7 percent from the floor, which ranks second on the team.

The honor marks the second of the season for Archer, she was named to the conference’s honor roll back on Dec. 12, following a pair of double-double performances against Iona and Bethune-Cookman.

The undefeated Red Storm squad will be back at it on Wednesday night when it visits Seton Hall for a 7 p.m. tip at Walsh Gymnasium.
