The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will host a rare late morning contest on Thursday when it entertains Old Westbury at 11:30 a.m. on “Class At The Court” Day. The game, which is being presented by Island Federal Credit Union, is the Pride’s final non-conference affair of the season.
A large amount of local school students are expected at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex as they are treated to a few interactive educational lessons pregame before watching the Pride take on the Panthers.
For ticket information visit HofstraTickets.com, call (516) HOF-TIXX, or visit the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office located in the lobby of the Mack Sports Complex.
The game will air on FloHoops and WRHU will provide an audio only broadcast as well. Links to both, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men’s basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com.
Hofstra comes into the game with a 6-6 record following a narrow 77-70 defeat at South Florida on Monday. Aaron Estrada scored a game-high 21 points in the contest, while Darlinstone Dubar and Tyler Thomas each chipped in with 17.
Old Westbury is 1-7 on the year and most recently dropped an 81-63 contest to The City College of New York on December 12. Chris Smith led the Panthers with 15 points in the contest.
This marks the second all-time meeting between Hofstra and Old Westbury. The Pride defeated the Panthers, 68-50, on November 24, 2008. Charles Jenkins had 24 points, six rebounds, and three assists in that contest. Old Westbury is coached by Bernard Tomlin, a 1976 graduate of Hofstra. Tomlin was a member of the 1976 team that was Hofstra’s first-ever team to qualify for the NCAA Division I Tournament.
