Hofstra Men’s Basketball Estrada Named To Lou Henson National Player of the Year Watch List

Hofstra redshirt senior Aaron Estrada has been named to the Lou Henson National Player of the Year Watch List, it was announced today by CollegeInsider.com.

The award, which is presented annually to the top mid-major player in division I college basketball, honors the former Illinois and New Mexico State head coach who won 775 games in 41 seasons.

This marks the second consecutive year that Estrada has been a candidate for the Lou Henson National Player of the Year award as last year he was a finalist for the honor.

Estrada is off to another incredible start in 2022-23 as he is averaging 22.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.4 steals per game through five games for the 4-1 Pride. He is one of only 13 players in the entire nation to average at least 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists per outing.

This week’s Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week, Estrada has already poured in 27 or more points in three different games this season – including 33 in a win over George Washington on November 14.

Estrada was the CAA Player of the Year in 2021-22 in addition to a slew of other honors, including All-CAA First Team and Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American.
