Hofstra Men’s Basketball Looks For First 3-0 Start Since 2017 On Monday

Coming off a pair of exciting wins to start the 2022-23 campaign, the Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will look to go to 3-0 for the first time since the 2017-18 season when the Pride hosts George Washington on Monday. W.B. Mason is the presenting game sponsor of Monday’s contest. 

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is slated for 7 p.m.

Hofstra earned its second consecutive win to open the season with a statement 83-78 victory over Iona on Friday night in front of 3,707 at the Mack Sports Complex. Tyler Thomas led the Pride with 26 points, while Darlinstone Dubar added 22 in the winning effort. 

The last time the Pride opened the season with three straight wins was in November of 2017 when Hofstra defeated Army West Point, Kennesaw State, and Dayton to open the year. 

George Washington is also 2-0 this year with wins over Virginia State and Howard. The Colonials defeated the Bison on Friday by the score of 85-75 as Ricky Lindo Jr. led the way with 19 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks. 

Monday will be the fifth all-time meeting between Hofstra and George Washington on the hardwood with the Colonials holding a 3-1 series advantage. The teams last met in the first round of the 2016 National Invitation Tournament with GW escaping with an 82-80 victory. Juan’ya Green led the Pride with 26 points and 10 assists in the game.
