For the third straight week, Fordham senior quarterback Tim DeMorat was named GEICO Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week when the League office announced honors on Monday. Joining him in receiving weekly honors was sophomore linebacker James Conway who was named the GEICO Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week
In a 48-45 Homecoming win over UAlbany on Jack Coffey Field on Saturday, DeMorat, the Patriot League preseason offensive player of the year, completed 33 of 55 passes for 464 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed three times for nine yards. It was DeMorat’s third straight five-touchdown game of the year.
On the year, DeMorat has completed 85 of 129 passes for 1,302 yards and 16 touchdowns. He leads the NCAA FCS in passing touchdowns and passing yards/game.
Over his career, DeMorat, who earned weekly honors for the eighth time over the past two years, has completed 791 passes for 9,865 yards, both second best all-time at Fordham, and has a Fordham record 83 touchdown passes. He needs 12 more completions and 59 passing yards to eclipse John Skelton’s (2006-2009) Fordham career records.
Conway led the Fordham defense with 15 total tackles on Saturday, seven solo, including one for loss and he had a pass breakup.
On the year, Conway is tied for the team lead with 23 total tackles, ten solo, including 2.0 for loss and one sack.
The Rams return to action on Saturday, September 24, as they travel to Athens, Ohio, to face the Ohio University Bobcats in Peden Stadium at 2:00 p.m.
