They say that the second and third time’s a charm, but that wasn’t the case for the New York Liberty (9-14) who fell to the Las Vegas Aces (16-7) by a final score of 107-101 in the team’s second meeting.
In the good news department, the Liberty were able to set the all-time WNBA record for most points scored by any team in a single half with their 73-point second half. The previous record was held by the Detroit Shock with 72 points in the second half on July 8, 2007.
New York was able to finish with a 44.7% shooting night from the field, as three ladies were able to have double figure scoring.
1495 Sports is proud to bring the following New York Liberty Post Game Press Conference. Video features thoughts from Head Coach Sandy Brondello along with Natasha Howard and Sabrina Ionescu:
Leading the way for the Liberty was Sabrina Ionescu, who had a game-high 27 points, that included a 59% shooting night from the floor. Natasha Howard followed with 20 points on 45% shooting, and to round out all New York scoring was Sami Whitcomb who had a season-high 17 points.
The New York Liberty will remain home to host the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday, July 14 at 11 a.m. ET in the second game of their two-game home-and-home set.
