Washington Mystics fall to Chicago Sky, 82-73

The Washington Mystics were unable to contain the reigning WNBA Champs the Chicao Sky, as the ladies lost by a final score of 82-73 in the team’s first meeting of the season.

Chicago had themselves a better rounded offensive game plan, while the Mystics were unable to find themselves an offensive rhythm.

One of the leaders on the offensive side of things for the Mystics was Ariel Atkins, who had a game-high 20 points. Atkins (222) was able to hit four three-point field goals today, that puts her ahead of Alana Beard (220) for the second-most three-point field goals made in franchise history.

1495 Sports is proud to bring the following Washington Mystics Post Game Press Conference from 5/22/2022. This was after the team’s 82-73 loss to the Chicago Sky in WNBA action on Washington D.C. Video features thoughts from General Manager Head Coach Mike Thibault, Elizabeth Williams and Ariel Atkins:

Natasha Cloud was one of the leaders for the team, as she was able to dish out a season-best and game-high 10 assists. Cloud has been able to dish out 10+ assists in a single game six times in her career.

Shakira Austin was able to have a 14 point and a five rebound performance in the game against the Sky, as Austin has been impressive with her play with the Mystics thus far. Austin has now had at least 10+ points and 5+ rebounds in a single game four times this season, that includes three consecutive games.

The Mystics will return to the Entertainment and Sports Arena on Tuesday, May 24, as the ladies play host to the Atlanta Dream. Game time between the two teams is set for 7:00 p.m.
