Tough way to start MLS season for New York City FC in 1-0 loss to Los Angeles

In addition to participating in the Concacaf Tournament, New York City FC will be defending their Major League Soccer crown as the regular season started for the boys in blue today in Los Angeles.

NYCFC fought throughout the whole match, ultimately it was Javier Hernandez and the Los Angeles Galaxy that were able to earn a 1-0 victory at Dignity Health Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Boys in Blue had some tremendous chances early on as Maxi Moralez was able to have a cross that Talles Magno was able to head towards the goal. Things had gone back and forth for a bit as NYCFC keeper Sean Johnson was able to stand tall throughout the night.

Los Angeles had themselves a tremendous opportunity in the 34th minute as Kevin Cabral attempted to solve Johnson, who was able to parry that opportunity.

The teams went into the half scoreless and continued their pace in the Second Half of play, as both teams attempted to find great scoring opportunities.

1495 Sports is proud to bring the following Post Match Press Conference from 2/27. This was after the team’s 1-0 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy in the start of the Major League Soccer Season on 2/27. Video features thoughts from Ronny Deila and Alfredo Morales:

Los Angeles was able to find a freekick opportunity for Javier Hernandez who was able to get a half-volley attempt away. It had looked as if things were going to end in a tie when Hernandez was able to find the back of the cage for the 1-0 lead.

New York City FC gave a tremendous effort especially in the added four minutes of time. The Boys in blue had themselves a scintillating shot that went just wide, and the Los Angeles Galaxy were able to walk away the winners.

Up next for New York City FC will resume Concacaf Tournament play, as the guys will take on Comunicaciones FC on Tuesday March 8 at the Pratt and Whitney Stadium. Start time is set for 8:00 p.m.
