The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will return home to the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex on Thursday when it hosts Towson. That game will air on SNY as well as FloHoops.
Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tickets are available for purchase at HofstraTickets.com, by calling (516) HOF-TIXX, or by visiting the Hofstra Athletic Ticket Office in the lobby of the Mack Sports Complex during normal business hours. On game day the ticket office will open one hour prior to tip-off.
The contest will be available on SNY on television as well as streamed on FloHoops. Kevin Dexter and Dan Savarino will have the call. In addition, WRHU (88.7 FM) will provide live audio on the Hofstra Athletics Web Channel, and live statistics will also be available. Hofstra dropped a tight 78-72 decision at UNCW on Saturday. The Pride placed four in double figures in the game as junior Aaron Estrada had 17 points and nine rebounds, while graduate student Zach Cooks added 15, sophomore Darlinstone Dubar had 12, and graduate student Jalen Ray chipped in with 11. Ray became the program all-time leader in games played on Saturday, as he appeared in his 142nd career game with the Pride and he also moved into sole possession of second all-time at Hofstra with 278 career three-pointers.
The Pride is now 13-8 and 5-3 in Colonial Athletic Association play heading into the week that will see them play three games in five days starting on Thursday. Estrada is tops on the team in scoring and rebounding with 17.0 points and 4.9 assists per game. Cooks (15.7 ppg), Ray (13.9 ppg), Dubar (12.4 ppg), and senior Omar Silverio (10.6) all average in double figures as well. Redshirt senior Abayomi Iyiola is averaging a team-high 8.5 rebounds per outing to go along with his 8.1 points per game.
Towson is 16-6 and 7-2 in the league following a 66-62 win over Drexel this past Saturday. The Tigers have won two straight and seven of their last eight games. Charles Thompson had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the win over the Dragons.
Cameron Holden is averaging team-highs of 14.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for Towson, while Nicolas Timberlake is second on the team with 13.8 points per contest.
Hofstra is 46-28 all-time against Towson with the Tigers winning this season’s earlier meeting in Maryland by the score of 78-66. The Pride has won seven of the last nine and 10 of the last 14 in the series. The Hofstra/Towson series, which began with an 86-71 Pride victory during the 1982-83 season, is the Pride’s third-most common series in program history. The 74 all-time meetings rank only behind Delaware (98) and Drexel (95).
