Albany FireWolves vs Saskatchewan Rush preview for 1/8/22

The Albany FireWolves are hoping to start 2022 with a bang, in the first and only meeting against the Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday, with the face-off scheduled at the MVP Arena, with the face-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Albany has been able to make the national spotlight, when backup goaltender Ethan Woods dropped down the gloves and fought the Rochester goalkeeper. That fight was able to spark a flame that the team hopes to carry with them during the New Year.

One of the players to watch for on the FIreWolves is Tony Malcom, who has been a man of many first for the team. Malcom recorded the first goal of the season, as he has been one of the team leaders with his three points thus far this season. Malcom has been essential to the FireWolves on both sides of the floor, as he is second on the team in loose balls and has been able to make some big defensive play for the team.

Joe Restarits led the FireWolves in the 16-7 decision against Rochester, as he was able to record a hat trick. The game against Rochester was a first for Resetarits who was able to play his first game in the Capital Region, since playing for the University of Albany

Currently, Restarits is tied for second on the team in total points with five (three goals and two assists) The Veteran is going to be a huge part of the FireWolves if they are going to get a winning result against the Rush.

Meanwhile, for Saskatchewan Mark Matthews has not only been off to a fast start in the 2021,22 campaigns but is one of the hottest players in the league coming into the game on Saturday. Matthews started the season with back-to-back six-point performances and followed that up with a hat trick in the Rush’s most recent game.

Another player to watch for is going to be Ryan Keenan, who has logged exactly four points in each game to this point and has done so by assisting his teammates with scoring opportunity. Keenan, finds himself third on the team in total points (12) and tied with Matthews with 10 assists.
