CBS Sports Network To Air Hofstra Versus Elon Game On Friday

The Hofstra Men’s Basketball team will continue its two-game road trip to open Colonial Athletic Association play on Friday when it travels to Elon for a nationally-televised CBS Sports Network contest against the Phoenix. 

The New Year’s Eve game will tip at 12 p.m. 

The game will air on the CBS Sports Network and WRHU will have an audio only broadcast on the HAWC as well. Links to the WRHU broadcast, as well as the live statistics, can be found on this page and on the men’s basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. 

Hofstra dropped its CAA lid-lifter on Wednesday, 63-62, at William & Mary despite 21 points from junior Aaron Estrada and 20 points from graduate student Jalen Ray. 

Graduate student Zach Cooks, who made his return to the lineup on Wednesday, leads Hofstra with 16.1 points per game. Ray ranks second with 15.4 points per outing, while Estrada is third on the team with 13.9 points per contest and is also tops on the team with 4.8 assists per game. Redshirt senior Abayomi Iyiola is averaging 8.7 rebounds and 8.2 points per game for the Pride. 

Elon is 4-10 overall and 1-0 in the conference after opening up league play with a 79-62 win over Northeastern on Wednesday. Darius Buford, who led the Phoenix with 23 points against the Huskies, leads Elon with 11.9 points per game. 

Hofstra is 10-4 all-time against Elon. The teams met once last season with the Phoenix capturing a win in the semifinals of the CAA Championship. Prior to that meeting, the Pride had won five consecutive meetings in the series. The first-ever meeting between the teams occurred during the 2009-10 campaign with Hofstra earning a 70-46 win in the NIT Season Tip-Off as the squads met prior to becoming conference rivals.
