New York Jets Recognize Military Members During Annual Salute to Service Game

As part of the NFL’s annual Salute to Service, the New York Jets will recognize military members in this year’s Salute to Service Game on Sunday, November 14, 2021. The military in attendance will be honored through multiple events and giveaways throughout the day, including pregame and halftime ceremonies and performances.

Fans will also be able to enjoy a free Salute to Service Flag giveaway, presented by Fan Duel. Prior to the start of the game, there will be a 150-member joint services Enlistment Ceremony followed by two Black Knights parachuting into MetLife Stadium. In recognition of military members, Jets players will run onto the field for introductions with both Military and American flags. Additionally, nine military personnel will serve as honorary captains for the game, led by US Army Vice of Staff General Joseph Martin and Major General Kevin Vereen. 

The National Anthem will be performed by Master SGT. Mary Kay Messenger, accompanied by over 100 military members holding the American Flag followed by two Lakota helicopter flyovers. In addition, there will be 75 military members from all branches, including the National Guard, lined up in an honor formation on field.

Before kickoff, Purple Heart recipient, Robert Zawacki, will crank the air raid siren, and during halftime, the West point Military Academy Marching Band will take the field for a special Salute to Service performance. Visit the Island at MetLife Stadium at pregame for number of Salute to Service Activations. The Island will host a Coast Guard Boat, Army E-Sports Gaming Trailer, Marines RV trailer, the Jets pregame show, and many others. 


SOLDIERS TO SIDELINES The New York Jets have pledged their ongoing support to Soldiers To Sidelines to develop service members and veterans to become excellent coaches and connect them to teams in their communities. During the week leading up to the Jets Salute to Service Game on November 14, 2021, the team will host a New York Jets Virtual Football Coaching Certification Seminar for over 100 participants. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from Jets General Manager, Joe Douglas, on his football and league experience. Then, on Saturday, November 13, 2021 the Jets will host over 30 of these participants at MetLife Stadium for a full day of strategic coaching seminars and classes.

SALUTE TO SERVICE AWARD The NFL and USAA, an official NFL Salute to Service partner, announced the 2021 nominees for the eleventh annual Salute to Service Award. The Salute to Service Award recognizes NFL players, coaches, staff and alumni with demonstrable commitment to honoring and supporting military and veteran communities, as nominated by NFL clubs.
Harrison Bernstein, founder of Soldiers To Sidelines, is this year’s Jets NFL Salute to Service Nominee. From the continued support of the Jets, STS has been able to inspire more Veterans through this new virtual platform and has served as a catalyst to accelerate growth and impact. Bernstein will be recognized at the Jets home game on November 14th, 2021 along with the Soldiers to Sidelines coaches from throughout the week.
