Hofstra University Head Men’s Basketball Coach Speedy Claxton recently announced his squad’s non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign.
The 12-game slate features four home games at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex and road games against Houston, which advanced to the Final Four a year ago, and Arkansas, which advanced to the Elite 8 in 2020-21. Additionally, the Pride will face NCAA Tournament participants Iona and Maryland, and National Invitation Tournament participant Richmond.
“What an incredible non-conference schedule we have been able to put together,” commented Claxton. “There are some really exciting matchups on the schedule that I know our Hofstra community will be thrilled to see us play. I look forward to seeing our great fans at both the Mack Sports Complex and on the road supporting the Pride this season!”
Hofstra will play its first five games of the season away from home as the schedule gets underway at Houston on November 9. The season-opening swing will also see the Pride travel to Duquesne (November 13), Iona (November 16), Maryland (November 19), and Richmond (November 22).
The Pride will then play its next four games at home, starting with a November 24 tilt against local rival Molloy. The four-game home stand includes games against Detroit Mercy (November 27), Princeton (December 1), and Bucknell (December 4).
The Long Island Rivalry is next up for Hofstra with a trip out east to face Stony Brook on December 8.
The non-conference schedule concludes with a pair of road games as the Pride heads to Arkansas on December 18 before taking on Monmouth on December 22.
Hofstra begins Colonial Athletic Association play on December 29 at William & Mary.
