The Washington Mystics snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday, as the team was able to earn an 82-74 victory over the Atlanta Dream in WNBA action. The victory for the team was a milestone one for Head Coach Mike Thibault who was able to record his 150th career win with the franchise.
Leading the way for the team was Tina Charles ,who passed Rebekkah Brunson for second time on the all-time rebound list. Charles who was able to record 16 rebounds, which marks her fifth 15 plus rebound game of the season, which is most in the league.
To go along with that rebounding mark, Charles also recorded a game-high 26 points, which marks the lead-leading 18th 20-point game of the season. Tina has been able to total her 10 20//10 game of the season, which is tied with Aja Wilson for the most 20/10 games. Charles went 3-for-6 from the three-point range, which is the eight time this season she has been able to make three or more three-point makes in a game.
One of the reasons for the team’s success against Atlanta was the fact that the team distributed the ball around the court, as the Mystics were able to total 20 assists, which marks the 13th game this season the team totaled 20 or more assist.
Another star for the Mystics in terms of offense was Theresa Plaisance who had 14 points in addition to the Mystics bench who had 24 points. This marks the seventh consecutive game the bench has scored 17 or more points.
Up next for the Mystics will be a game against the Chicago Sky on Sunday, September 12. These two teams will be playing in Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois with the tip off slated for 3:00 p.m.
