On Tuesday night, the New York Liberty (11-17) fell to the Minnesota Lynx (16-9), 74-66, in their third and final matchup of the 2021 regular season. With tonight’s win, Minnesota won the season series 2-1.
In the Twin Cities, the Liberty finished on 32.4% (23-71) shooting from the field, 20.8% (5-24) from three, and 88.2% (15-17) at the free throw line.
New York recorded 38 rebounds, 12 team assists, nine steals, four blocks, and capitalized on 26 points off the Lynx’s 15 turnovers. The game saw three lead changes and six ties.

Three Liberty players scored in double figures in tonight’s game (Ionescu, Laney, Onyenwere).
2021 WNBA All-Star Betnijah Laney tied the team-high 17 points on 40% (6-15) shooting, three rebounds, and two assists. Tonight was Laney’s 25th game eclipsing double figure scoring this season. Betnijah finished shooting 40% (6-15) from the field, 50% (1-2) from deep and 100% (4-4) from the free throw line.
After coming one assist shy of a triple-double in the last game, 2020 No. 1 overall pick Sabrina Ionescu had another all-around performance finishing with 17 points on 33.3% (3-12) shooting from the field, seven rebounds, and six assists. Her 17 points tied for a team-high. This marks her 16th game scoring in double figures this season, and seventh consecutive 10+ point outing following the Olympic break. Ionescu shot 100% (8-8) from the free throw line for the ninth time this season.
With 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, Rookie of the Year candidate Michaela Onyenwere finished with her first-career double-double.
Former Lynx player Natasha Howard finished the contest with eight points on 33.3% (4-12) shooting from the field, seven rebounds, and two assists.
WNBA All-Defensive Team candidate, Rebecca Allen, scored seven points and grabbed eight rebounds alongside five steals (career-high) and three blocks. Tonight marked Allen’s third consecutive game with eight boards (tied career-high).
Kayla McBride scored a game-high 25 points on 44.4% (8-18) shooting from the field, including a 17-point first half. She also added a season-high nine rebounds.
Napheesa Collier finished with a 21-point, 14-rebound (tied career-high) double-double on 42.1% (8-19) from the field.
