Washington Mystics unable to soar against Dallas Wings in 82-77 loss

1495 Sports is proud to bring the following Washington Mystics Post Game Press Conference from 8/26.This was after the team’s 82-77 loss to the Dallas Wings and features thoughts from Head Coach Mike Thibault along with stars of the game Theresa Plaisance and Myisha Hines-Allen

The Washington Mystics (9-15) are fighting for opportunities within the WNBA Playoff standings but fell in the first of two games against the Dallas Wing (11-14) by a final score of 82-77 on Thursday night.

The Mystics who were without Tina Charles, who is the WNBA’s leading scorer (25.4 points per game) had to find someone in the starting rotation that would help lead them to victory. The ladies stepped things up in the first half as eight different players were able to find great scoring opportunities.

A returning Elena Elle Donne helped with the teams scoring efforts, but the Wings were able to use a 6-1 lead early on. Things were back and forth between these two squads, but it was the Mystics who went into the half with a 43-36 lead.

Dallas continued their scoring momentum in the Third Quarter, as Head Coach Mike Thibault called a timeout to try to cool down their offense. Sadly, that strategy did not work as the Wings, who were led by Arike Ogunbowale helped the Wings take the lead.

These two teams continued to battle, as there were nine lead changes. For the Mystics it was a missed Ariel Atkins three that may have been a difference maker, as the Wings were able to earn an 82-77 victory.

The Mystics have eight regular season games left and are hoping to make a push for the WNBA Playoffs. There was cause for concern as well for the team as Delle Donne, who had returned from a two-year injury left the floor early.

Delle Done will be one of the keys in addition to the rest of the roster if the Mystics are hoping to make a push for the playoffs. One of the players stepping up in the loss to the Wings was Myisha Hines-Allen who had 16 points.

These two teams will have no time to rest as they will play each other again on Saturday at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. The action between the Mystics and Wings is set for 7:00 p.m.
