The Bridgeport Sound Tigers earned a 2-1 shootout victory over the Providence Bruins in AHL action on Thursday night.
Bridgeport now has a five-game unbeaten streak and have been able to beat the Bruins in their last two meetings. This was also the Sound Tigers’ third straight victory on the road.
Felix Bibeau was able to get the scoring going for the Sound Tigers, netting his first professional goal of the 10:01 mark. After that both teams skated a stellar defensive game and were able to keep the other off the board until the third period.
It was in the final stanza that Paul Carey tied things up for Providence. Neither team were able to find a goal in regulation and eventually went into the shootout frame to earn the victory.
The Sound Tigers were able to see goals from Dmytro Timashov, Felix Bibeau, and Bode Wilde in what was a thriller at the New England Sports Center.
In the cage for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Ken Appleby made 29 saves, to be able to have his third win over the last four starts.
These two AHL rivals will meet against next Monday, May 3, in a 1 p.m. rematch at Webster Bank Arena. This will be the Sound Tigers home finale and the 12th and final meeting against Providence.
